"The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don't wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope." — Barack Obama
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Madam Mims, known best to my admirers as the Magnificent Madam Mims. As you may very well see from my picture, I’m a four-legged wonder of, well, magnificent feline proportions. I have a Puerto Rican pedigree of the highest rank, where I spent the first 11 years of my life. Born in 1999, I soon adopted my human mom in spite of my initial reservations about being involved with a human. The bond that sprung from that initial encounter, has led me to where I am today: Madrid, Spain. Thousands of miles away from home, across the Atlantic, living what some still call a crazy act of randomness.
Two and a half years in, I have things to say. Plenty of them. Thoughts on people and how they react to the economy and the so-called crisis. Curiosity about previously unexplored experiences and the first impressions they make upon me. Feelings about relationships – mine and others’. Perspective, and humor, from the life I lead at work as a language teacher coordinator.
And I think it’s time I say them. For me, if not for anything else. For other kitties out there who might also have a thing or two to say. And I intend it to be honest, simple, and Positively Critical. Hopefully, my life will be better because of it. Who knows? One or two other kitties might be inspired too.
